About RES

Richey Elementary School replaced Pierce Elementary School in New Port Richey. Students began attending around November 1957. The first principal was Fred K. Marchman, who had been Principal of Pierce Elementary. Richey remained a neighborhood school until it was chosen as a pilot site for the fundamental school concept in 1978.  In Fall of 1994, Richey returned to a neighborhood school and this status has remained. In 2011 construction began on the new (current) facility, which was completed in February of 2013.

Richey qualifies as a Title I school which assists us in meeting the needs of our students. Title I helps to support the food and nutrition program funds along with additional instructional support and provides many other resources that benefit the school. Richey Elementary provides services for students PK-5th grade. In addition to our general education programs, Richey also provides services for students with disabilities in order to help ensure that each of our students are successful.

Family and community involvement is strongly promoted through our Title I Family Compact. Information is regularly distributed to promote family involvement in social and academic areas. Campus Events, Family Nights Out and our School Advisory Council are just a few ways to be involved. Our goal is to create a positive and cohesive environment where all students will be successful.
